The field immersion practiced by various academic programmes at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has evolved through over four decades and is recognised as a key positive differentiator in participants’ personal and professional lives.
Field immersion provides an in-depth insight into the organisational life and the role of professionals who deal with the Organisation Development, Change and Leadership Management. During the Field immersion, the participant gets exposure of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) and seek the support of multiple TISS faculties, field immersion mentors (Change agents from industry) and mentors from CSO for effective field immersion learning. The curriculum of field immersion has been designed after taking cognizance of the courses taught in different modules in the classroom and to integrate this learning with the field immersion experience.
The primary aim is to equip the participant with necessary competencies to deliver superior performance in the Organisation Development, Change and Leadership Management area in all kinds of work contexts. Through their commendable efforts, the participants, faculty mentors and field immersion mentors contribute substantially to the realisation of the TISS vision.
The Field Immersion component of the ‘field-based Summer School Program on Organisation Development, Change and Leadership (ODCL) in Civil Society Organisations in India’ carries 2 credits with two field immersion learning opportunities – one diagnosis and second interventions in below affiliated Civil Society Organisations.
